************************************************************************ This website pertains to the BROWN Family and other allied branches(SEE BELOW  FOR ALL SURNAMES)From 
 NC/Tennessee, the BROWN family moved to Virginia  for a short time before  settling in Kentucky. The BROWN family is said to be of Cherokee Indian  descent. Some census records will seem to attest to this fact by showing their  race listed as Mulatto. These records were before the time of having Indian  listed as a race on them. On later census records, they are listed as White.  Many relatives were raised knowing that the family descended from  Cherokee's.These were family members that had no knowledge of the other family  members until recently. One of Berry's daughters was listed as Indian on census  records.

Many branches were well known in their communities and there were many military  veterans.
